How to advance towards a habitable world for all
More than 250 people, half of whom are male and half are female, proportional to population distribution around different regions of the world have been preparing the Barcelona Consensus since 2009, a project that gathers proposals with the aim of making this planet an inhabitable world for all within the next decade.
Now, any individual or organization may take part in this process:
1. Read and sign the Barcelona Consensus Declaration
You can download the Barcelona Consensus Declaration 1.0 and read it. Then you can click here to sign it.
2. Providing proposals for the Action for a Common Transformation (ACT!) 2012 consultation
This consultation seeks to promote the coordination of global actions that could provoke change in the current correlation of forces, in order to achieve one of the Barcelona Consensus objectives in 2012. All organizations of the WSF are invited to submit suggestions for global campaigns, as well as to encourage others to do so. The proposals received by January 31st 2012 will be published online, and all organizations that register (before and after January 31st) may indicate which of the proposed campaigns they will endorse. The objective is to have a transforming common action for 2012. This process will be repeated annually.
3. Creating or promoting Transition Circles
Transition Circles are groups that voluntarily commit to achieving realistic objectives, with deadlines set to progressively convert their communities or sectors into sustainable and inhabitable spaces for all within the next decade. The intention is to define and agree on a transition plan in a given area, such as a family, a group of neighbours or friends, an entire district or town, an organization, party or even an entire professional sector, etc, to easen the change of habits and unsustainable structures through a voluntary waiver of privileges.
